Sarah Sanders (she/her) is a queer Jewish writer and performer from the middle of Montana. She makes earnest theatre and writes funny television. Her work is likely to include some combination of Jewish stuff, music, queer romance, and surprisingly* sharp humor.

(*because of the earnestness)

Sarah was a 2019-2020 Performance Fellow with the Queer|Art|Mentorship program, working with Mashuq Mushtaq Deen, and recently completed her second year as a lyricist with the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop.

She has developed new theatrical work with The Bengsons, Musical Theatre Factory, Fresh Ground Pepper’s BRB Retreat, Mind the Art Entertainment, Undiscovered Countries, the Satori Group, and the Hearth. Sarah has performed (her own and others’ work) at places including The Brick, Abrons Arts Center, Dixon Place, The Tank, and Theatrelab in New York, On The Boards in Seattle, and The Pleasance Theatre in London. She’s also been an artist-in-residence at Dixon Place, and is a member of Ring of Keys.

She has an MFA in acting from LAMDA (the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) and a BA from Williams College, where she studied theatre and comparative literature.

Outside of her creative practice, Sarah is an active member of her synagogue Kolot Chayeinu, a strong supporter of her current union (let’s go IATSE), and a devotee of the Park Slope Food Coop. She lives with her wife in Brooklyn, where she tries to keep their plants alive.

She was most recently the script coordinator and, prior to that, the writers’ room assistant for the FX television show Dying for Sex, created by Liz Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock and starring Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate.
